Drawing on more than three decades of experience across Japan’s financial and private capital markets, Takeshi partners with private capital firms, financial institutions, and business leaders to identify and appoint exceptional leaders who strengthen organizations, accelerate growth, and create long-term value.
Takeshi is a Senior Client Partner at Fredriks in Tokyo, advising clients on senior leadership appointments across private capital, financial services, and investment management. Having built his career across commercial banking, investment banking, private equity, wealth management, and corporate leadership, he brings a rare combination of investor, operator, and adviser perspectives to executive search. His expertise spans leadership assessment, executive advisory, and stakeholder management.
Having held senior leadership roles at leading Japanese and global financial institutions and investment firms, including MUFG, Carlyle, UBS, and Nomura, Takeshi has developed a deep understanding of Japan’s financial and private capital landscape. His experience gives him first-hand insight into capital markets, private capital investing, and the leadership and organizational challenges businesses face as they navigate strategic change, growth, and value creation. Over the course of his career, he has built trusted relationships with investors, boards, senior executives, and business owners across Japan’s financial and private capital communities, enabling him to understand the perspectives, priorities, and leadership expectations of the stakeholders involved in critical executive appointments.
Early in his career at MUFG, Takeshi served as an elected employee representative in dialogue with top management of the bank on workplace and employment matters. This experience strengthened his appreciation of organizational culture, stakeholder alignment, and the role of leadership in building high-performing organizations.
Outside of work, Takeshi enjoys camping, mountain stream fishing, golf, and boxing. He also has a lifelong appreciation for classical piano, having begun playing at the age of three, with a particular admiration for Chopin.
Takeshi holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Keio University and an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin.
